Why handcrafted soap . .
Handcrafted soaps are made with all-natural fats and caustic soda, or lye. A naturally occurring by-product of soap-making is glycerin, a humectant that attracts moisture to your skin. Additionally, homemade or handcrafted soap is usually “superfatted” with extra oils and fats, for additional moisturizing properties.
Commercial soap manufacturers add salts which curdle the soap to remove the glycerin which is then sold to cosmetic companies for the production of moisturizers. Commercial soap in many cases is more detergent than soap, often using petroleum products in production. While detergents are great for washing your car, they are not the best for skin care.
Handcrafted soap is biodegradable, with no chemical waste in the process. The same can not be said of commercial soap processes.
About our soap . .
Paloma Soaps uses only vegetable oils and butters in our handcrafted soaps. No animal fats, tallow, or lard are ever used. No products are tested on animals. We use only premium grade essential oils, fragrance oils, and herbs. Most of our products are preservative free. When preservatives are needed for high liquid products, we use Grapefruit seed extract or Vitamin E oil.
Our bath salts and salt scrubs are made with Dead Sea Salts, with its increased levels of magnesium, calcium, silica, sodium, and potassium. Vitamin E oil is added as an anti-oxidant.
Paloma Soaps strives to provide you with a variety of quality soaps and bath products handcrafted not only to clean but to protect and pamper your skin while appealing to your senses.
